These days number of people who works hard but can’t earn enough money to live (what we call “working poor”) is increasing in Japan. This new type of poverty is caused by changing of working patterns. This paper will try to explain what is “working poor” and examine how it affect on Japanese society, at last, present possible solutions. It seems that combination of two measure, job sharing and reformation of social insurances can reduce the people who classed as working poor. AAP General News Wire introduces working poor in Australia, which is very useful for comparing case in Japan. Iwata;s research give us real examples of person who classed as working poor. Kadokura’s paper suggests that working poor are exist not only these days but also after the WW2.
